In collaboration with Heinen Delfts Blauw, Janny van der Heijden has launched a Delft blue tableware called ‘Sharing Moments – Monkeys’. The tableware combines traditional Delft blue elements with modern details.

This plate is decorated with exotic blossoms and dangling monkeys playing with the slender branches. The satirical monkeys seem very modern, but are a popular theme that was often seen on Delft blue porcelain four hundred years ago. This was called ‘aperij’. “Aperij is the act of playing funny pranks and imitating human behaviour,” Janny explains about the design of her new tableware. The playful monkeys in the new collection will put a smile on everyone’s face. Monkeys are not only a symbol of absurdity, but in Asia these primates have been depicted on porcelain for centuries as a symbol of wisdom and a long life.
The porcelain breakfast plate is dishwasher safe and also suitable for the oven and microwave.
